We have contracts with several major freight carriers to offer our customers the best possible overseas shipping rates. You are responsible for local taxes and duties. Our shipping agents can assist you with custom clearance in your own home country if you are not located within the United States. US customers do not have to deal with this as it has already been taken care of.
Is your scooters street legal?
Yes. The scooters are street legal and can be taken on highways and interstate. However, we do not recommend riding on highways till the time you are accustomed to riding a vintage scooter.
Can you detach a sidecar?
The sidecar is relatively easy to attach and detach and can be accomplished by one person with the use of support blocks under the sidecar. There are 4 heavy-duty class 8 bolts at the main connection flange between the sidecar mount attached between the scooter frame and the sidecar. There is also an additional bolt that connects the support arm which protrudes slightly from under the seat. The wire for the sidecar running light simply snaps together near the center connection flange. We highly recommend riding your scooter without the sidecar during the initial break-in period for the engine.
Is the sidecar original to the scooter or motorcycle?
The sidecar is a new sidecar made by Cozy. It is an all steel sidecar based on the design of the old vintage German Steib LS 200 sidecars. Both Steib and Cozy sidecars were contemporary to these vintage scooters and motorcycles when they were new in the 50's and 60's. We perform several upgrades to the stock sidecar itself. We order them from the factory with a primer coat only. We then sand them and shape them up because they usually aren't prepped very well for painting when they first arrive. The frame is then powder coated which gives them a longer lasting, more-durable finish. The simple, cheap black seat pads that come from the factory are discarded and replaced with custom-made new upholstered high-back seats and arm-rests that are more comfortable and match the scooter--giving the scoot a much better customized look and feel.
Are your Scooters Electric Start?
No, they are kick start only. Our scooters do have 12 volt ELECTRONIC IGNITION, which should not to be confused with "electric start". This terminology can be confusing to some of our customers who are not familiar with the difference. Electronic ignition replaces the old points/condenser system (sending spark to the spark plug)giving the engine more-reliable starts, a quicker response time, better fuel efficiency, brighter lights, and a better overall reliability as compared to the fussy, high-maintenance points/condenser electrical system found in some earlier engines.
Are your Scooters 2 Stroke or 4 Stroke?
Our Scooters have 2-stroke motors and use fuel that is mixed with 2-stroke engine oil.
About our Scooters and Motorcycles?
All of our bikes are restored at Modscooters own restoration workshop. It
is a professional, clean, high quality restoration shop. We knew if we
were to get top quality, we would have to simply do it ourself and set up
our own operation. We have a top of the line professional paint facility
computerized bench test equipment, and a highly trained professional staff. Almost all of our restoration mechanics have a minimum of 20 years experience working on Vespas and Lambretta scooters. A couple of our top guys have over 40 years of professional scooter/motorcycle mechanic experience and worked on these when they were being sold brand new in the late 50's and 60s! We do not cut corners and the quality of our work shows this. We start with a vintage vespa body that is straight and in relatively good condition. We strip it down to bare metal and replace dented engine cowls and front fender with new ones instead of trying to hammer out years of dents. All of our scooters come with 6 month
full warranty n all parts and workmanship.
Warranty
We offer a 6 month warranty on parts and workmanship. We also offer a unconditional money back guarantee if after receiving your scooter, you find that we have misrepresented any facts or you are not pleased with the bike. We stand behind our product and are confident of our build quality.
